architecture
My interest in architecture began on my travels to
Asia. The beauty of various temples in India,
Vietnam, Thailand and Laos is incomparable -
probably also because of the exotic settings and the
elaborate nature of the ornamentation. On the other
hand, Europe abounds with architectural delights
from the Roman, Gothic, Renaissance, and more recent
periods. I do not claim to be able to recognise
these styles... but I can savour their beauty and
the use of materials and technologies available at
any given time.
A site that sets itself apart from most European
architecture is the Alhambra in Granada, one of the
finest examples of islamic architecture. Touché and
I visited this wonderful place, and a website is our
tribute to its uniqueness.
Besides places of worship, there is the architecture
of castles, theatres and musea, skyscrapers,
windmills, bridges, and finally that of ordinary
houses. Among these last, we have a favorite
category, that of houses that strike us because of
their special design or location, turning them into
dreamhouses, or on the contray, houses that we
wouldn't dream of inhabiting.
