  • What is Toucheguy?
    • A one-man company for translations, language lessons and photography.
  • What services does Toucheguy provide?
    • We translate literature, documents, websites, software (localization), under certain conditions also subtitling and transcription. We do not deliver certified translations or simultaneous translating.
    • We offer individual language lessons, online or in person.
    • You can buy and use pictures we have made.
  • Where can you find our photos?
    • Since January 2017, we post photos made by Guy on the website 500px.com. They are put together in several 'galleries'.
    • If you want, you can buy these photos through 500px.com.
  • In what languages does Toucheguy work?
    • We translate from and to the following languages: Dutch, Portuguese, English, French, Spanish, and Danish.
    • Language classes are for Portuguese, English, French and Spanish.
  • You want to learn a new language, refresh your command of a language?
    • Send us an email with your language plans: which language do you want to learn, do you have any proficiency in it, do you plan to travel or move to the region of that language in the near future?
    • We contact you to make an appointment for a talk. The lessons will use Skype, Facetime or similar.
  • You need a translation. How does it work?
    • Send the file by email, specify the language(s) in which you want it translated and possibly the intended delivery date of the translation. We will answer your inquiry with an offer, with prices for a normal and a fast delivery.
    • If you have the document on paper, you can send it through the mail at your own risk (better send a good photocopy), or make a pdf of it and email that.
    • If you want your website translated, send us the link with a list of what needs to be translated, but you might ask your webmaster for text files with the web content.
  • How fast will Toucheguy send you an offer and does it cost to make the offer?
    • We send the offer in principle within 24 hours.
    • The offer is free and without obligations.
  • In what file format should you send your material?
    • The easiest to use are text formats (odt, doc/docx, rtf, txt), secondly also spreadsheet formats (ods, xls/xlsx), rather not powerpoint presentations (odp or ppt).
    • Print-ready files (pdf) are also usable, preferably when they can be brought back to a text or spreadsheet format (so rather not on the basis of photocopies).
    • We may charge an extra cost for source material that is difficult to read or digitalize.
  • Why does Toucheguy ask for glossaries and reference material?
    • Every company and every organisation uses its own terminology and vocabulary. We are sure that you want to find the same names and notions in the translated material as those that you already used in previous texts. It saves us quite some work and you receive new material that perfectly matches what you have already circulating. Therefore we ask you to provide us with lists of terms, glossaries, previous translations and other reference material before we start the translation.
  • Does Toucheguy use computer assisted translating and CAT-tools?
    • No, partly because we believe translation is not a one-on-one job, each word or concept can be translated differently depending on the context and style. Moreover, there are not many CAT-tools for Apple computers.
    • We sometimes use CafeTran Espresso and might accept work in Memsource.
  • What determines the price of a translation?
    • The price is determined by the number of words, the complexity of the subject, the technicality of the language used, and the amount of time available to finish the translation.
  • Which payment method can you use and when should you pay?
    • By bank transfer, TransferWise, in exceptional cases via PayPal.
    • The official payment term in the European Union is 30 days after the invoice date (European Directive 2000/35/EC).
  • Do you have to pay VAT on the work we deliver?
    • Toucheguy is a VAT payer one-man company, registered at the Centrale Virksomhedsregister (CVR) at Virk.dk in Denmark.
    • 25% moms (or VAT) has to be paid on invoices for companies and private customers in Denmark, that we forward to the moms office.
    • The same goes for private customers elsewhere in the European Union.
    • On invoices to companies elsewhere in Europe, the VAT obligation is shifted to the company in question that has to pay the VAT in its country.
    • No VAT is charged on invoices for corporate of private customers outside the European Union.
